The Brinell hardness tester is mainly used to determine the hardness of cast iron, steel, non-ferrous metals, and soft alloys. The Brinell hardness test can reflect the comprehensive performance of the material. Affected by the micro-segregation and uneven composition of the sample structure, it is a high-precision hardness test method.
Here is the content list:
●How does the Brinell hardness tester work?
●What are the technical requirements for the Brinell hardness tester?
The selection of the test conditions of the Brinell hardness tester is the same as the selection of the scale of the Rockwell hardness test. This choice does not have to follow a certain rule and can not be determined arbitrarily, and attention should be paid to the reasonable combination of test force and indenter ball diameter. The application is slightly more complicated than the Rockwell hardness test. The working principle of the Brinell hardness tester is to press a steel ball of a certain diameter into the surface of the sample at a certain speed under a certain test force, and then remove the test force after a specified test force holding time. The Brinell hardness value of the metal is expressed by the average pressure on the indented spherical surface of the sample.
Although there are many types of Brinell hardness testers and different structures, they must meet the following technical requirements.
1. The structure of the Brinell hardness tester should be able to meet the requirements of the test specification in the national standard "Metal Brinell Hardness Test Method". (1) The Brinell hardness tester should be equipped with spherical indenters of various specifications required by the above-mentioned standards. (2) During the test, a predetermined test force or a test force within the range of 9.807~29420N (1~3000kgf) should be applied as required. (3) The test force should be applied evenly and steadily, without shock and vibration. The test force application time is 2-8s, and the test force retention time can be selected and controlled according to the nature of the test material.
2. The Brinell hardness tester should meet the requirements of the verification regulations. (1) The allowable error of the test force of the Brinell hardness tester should not exceed ±1.0%, and the degree of variation should not exceed 1.0%. (2) Regarding the indication error and repeatability of the Brinell hardness tester, the indication error of the Brinell hardness tester refers to the relative error between the hardness value displayed by the tested hardness tester and the standard value. During the inspection, measure 5 points evenly distributed on the standard block, and use the arithmetic average of 5 points to calculate the indication error of the following formula. The requirement of the repeatability of the Brinell hardness value is to ensure the working stability of the Brinell hardness tester and reduce the dispersion of the test data. The moving parts of the Brinell hardness tester produce greater friction or the blade, loose and worn shim, and the ball is not firmly fixed in the indenter cover, etc., all of which will increase the variation of the displayed value.
